5 Steps to Prepare Your Wildlife Space If You're Going to Be Busy
Is your life about to become very busy? Wondering how you're going to keep your small outdoor space for wildlife going?
1. Water Plants Well
Soak your porch, patio, balcony, or deck plants well with water. For extended periods of time, consider sitting some in shallow saucers of water or investing in a drip line irrigation system for potted plants.
2. Fill Feeders
Top off all bird and other wildlife feeders with seed, grain, or other food.
Keep extra seed handy in a container for easy topping off later, but keep the container inside unless it is metal or glass. Squirrels can chew through plastic.
3. Fill Water Sources
After topping off your birdbaths and other water sources, keep a large watering can filled and nearby for easy watering.
4. Arrange Feeders
Place feeders so any mess is contained or deposited in a "don't care" location.
5. Arrange Plants
If it's the heat of summer, arrange plants so they don't bake in the heat, if necessary.
