7 Reasons You Don't Want Squirrels in Your Home
Squirrels inside your house can be more than a nuisance. Here's some reasons why:
- To gain access, squirrels may chew holes in your exterior walls, letting in damaging moisture or other pests
- They may chew through electrical wires and start a fire -- and the damage may not be covered by your homeowner's or renter's insurance
- Squirrels may shred attic, wall, or pipe insulation
- They may damage interior wood in your attic or walls
- Squirrels may take over your chimney, preventing your use of it
- They leave unsanitary conditions and nasty smells in your house from their feces and urine
- Squirrels may carry disease or insects (ticks, mites, chiggers) that could harm your health
