Feeding Squirrels at Home
If you have squirrels in your neighborhood, attracting them to your porch, patio, or deck is extremely easy. Squirrels love food and are not choosy eaters.
Quick Start
Hang a corn cob, perhaps by using a squirrel cob feeder.
Not Fussy
Squirrels are not choosy about their food and often are very clever about accessing food. They will eat a wide variety of food --
- nuts such as peanuts
- grains like corn
- leafy greens, broccoli, peas -- even that nice water plant in your barrel water garden!
- fruit
- seeds like sunflower or even pumpkin seed
- flower bulbs
...and much, much more.
Placement
Place the food away from windowsills and doorsteps to discourage squirrels from coming inside your home.
Squirrel Feeders
Squirrel feeders, especially ones that challenge squirrels, can provide hours of entertainment. Some cob feeders are even spring-loaded to provide more entertaining action.
