Neighborly Considerations for a Wildlife Porch
If you occupy an apartment, condo, or other high-density residence complex, you may want to consider your neighborhood before attracting wildlife.
- Although sparrows have visited feeders on the 30th floor, residences above the 3rd floor may find it difficult to attract wildlife
- Your apartment or condominium complex may have a structurally-imposed weight limit for decks or balconies that may prevent you from having wildlife-attracting plants
- Some community or housing associations may restrict
- What kind of feeders you can use
- What kinds of mounts, hangers, or hooks you can use
- How many plants you can have
- Even what wildlife you can attract
- Your neighbor in the residence below may not like bird poop or seed debris on her balcony
