4 Ways to Connect With Butterflies and Butterfly Lovers
Get involved with helping butterflies survive. Participate in a butterfly count in your region, take a vacation and count, or join a program to help monarchs on their way.
- 1. Monitor Monarchs
- Help monitor monarch butterflies in North America through the Monarch Waystation Program from Monarch Watch ( more information)
- 2. Travel and Participate
- Participate in the Rio Grande Prix of Butterflying, sponsored by the North American Butterfly Association (NABA)
- 3. Count Butterflies at Home
- Participate in a butterfly count in your region. NABA sponsors counts in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico, and other organizations at regional and local levels host frequent counts.
- 4. Join a Conservation Society
A number of organizations work to save butterflies, across the world:
- The Butterfly Conservation Initiative (BFCI)
- Butterfly Conservation (UK)
- Xerces Society (International)
- World Wildlife Fund's Monarch Butterfly Conservation Fund
